Beginnings

I always wonder what it would be like if I actually made an effort to write on a regular and continuous basis. To fortify my life with thoughts of “I should write something about that”, and then to actually do it.

Perhaps now I will find out!

I read something reasonably awesome recently about how expertise happens. The idea is it doesn’t. If you want to be a master at anything, the only thing you can do is decide to do it, and continue along the path that you can manage it. Being an expert just means you’ve done more or are simply more confident than anyone else in the field.

So what’s my goal then? Simply putting out alot of material seems rather foolish when dealing with purely creative endeavors, although it could certainly be seen as a pre-requisite.   So I suppose my goal for the moment is the same as it has always been. To find another way to express and bring myself closer to the me I really am.

Self actualization has always been a rather important goal of mine. It reflects alot in the way I think, though often not nearly as much as I’d like in the things I do. I tend to have a very strong focus when I need it, and can spend hours at a time on the same task without any frustration, so long as the next step is clear.(Which can easily get me into trouble if I get embroiled in a task just as I’m about to sleep) However, the task generation, deciding actually what is genuinely important, and what I should focus on right now..often seems to be lacking when taken in to the overall picture.

So, here is my goal: I will write, I will draw, I will seek interesting knowledge and information in order that I may distill and share it. Inso doing, it will be clear in my mind, and I will be better able to act on the ideas formed.

Have a nice day!
